This project was completed for an Intro to Basic Modeling course final. With virtual reality development, the project had to be designed for optimum performance. I used a game modeling approach by designing modular assets and utilizing texture atlas sheets with photoshop. The concept for the environment was developed during the early stages of my thesis project (which began as a VR experience.)
My thesis project begin by imagining ways in which I could use virtual reality to share sustainable apparel practices with consumers. It was sparked by the idea of reimagining the brick and mortar format altogether. It’s important to mention that this was developed during the first six months of Covid-19 lockdowns. Campus facilities were locked and many storefronts closed their door except for the businesses deemed essential.
While I did not use this project as a prototype for my thesis, It was a stepping stone in the process. In the end, this project was an exercise in 3D modeling, texturing and optimizing asset creation for virtual realty performance.
